Puzzle games are in wide usage today, and are especially recommended for children as they can play quite a vital role in the development of the problem solving and logical skills of the player. Often these puzzle games involve a stiff constraint of time, thereby making the user demonstrate some speed and accuracy. Due to their utility as good entertainers along with being nice short leisure time spending exercises, a number of such games like Tetris, bejeweled, mahjong etc. have been developed for playing on PC. One such comprehensive game which is certain to be liked by every class of users- irrespective of their age or gender is BoxWorld v.1.14.
BoxWorld is a freeware game involving the puzzle of placing the boxes at right places. The game involves 2D arcade style interface with interesting characters and layout and a combination of hot keys for basic functionalities. The target of the player is to place the boxes at the required places in order to gain energy for proceeding to the next level by pressing the Spacebar. The main constraint is that the boxes can be pushed in four directions only in the empty spaces with an obstacle from walls and bricks lying in the way. There are fair chances of a player getting stuck in the game where he can not find any potential movement of boxes. In such a case, he has to sacrifice a chance by pressing the “R” key and restart the level from the scratch again. The game has about 525 levels with increasing difficulty and a precise functionality of saving and loading the game.
Overall, BoxWorld v.1.14 is a comprehensive game with a number of challenging levels, with increasing difficulty, thus requiring a lot of use of strategy and logic on the part of player. Hence, it receives a score of three and a half rating points on the scale of five.
